Embarking on a spontaneous adventure, my sister and I reached out to Makali Safaris just a month before our trip, seeking a last-minute safari experience. To our delight, this safari company warmly welcomed us, extending their hospitality for a six-day journey. Their exceptional organization skills ensured that every aspect of our excursion to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was meticulously arranged, from securing our gorilla tracking licenses to arranging accommodations, meals, and transportation.
The team at Makali Safaris impressed us with their kindness and efficiency. Our personal guide, Steven, proved to be a remarkable companion throughout the journey. With his wealth of knowledge, he not only chauffeured us from one location to another but also provided insightful commentary on the country’s landscape and history, ensuring our satisfaction at every turn.
Despite our preference for active exploration, which sometimes clashed with the safari’s predominantly vehicular nature, Steven went above and beyond to accommodate our interests. His expertise as a safari tracker led us to exhilarating encounters, such as witnessing lions at sunrise—a request he seamlessly fulfilled after learning of our admiration for early mornings and scenic vistas.
The accommodations provided by Makali Safaris were nothing short of charming, offering not only comfortable lodgings but also delectable cuisine. However, what truly elevated our experience were the dedicated staff at each lodge, who ensured our every need was met with warmth and hospitality.
Our three days and two nights in Queen Elizabeth National Park, followed by two nights in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our adventure was undoubtedly the opportunity to track both chimpanzees and gorillas, a privilege that left an indelible mark on our hearts.
As we traversed Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes, from lush forests to expansive savannas, we were continuously captivated by the country’s natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Makali Safaris truly showcased Uganda as the “pearl of Africa,” leaving us in awe and gratitude for the unforgettable experiences we had the privilege to enjoy.
